Case Ih 724 Repair Manuals
Hi there Red Power community, and thanks for adding me. I have a trusty old IH 624 that has been serving me faithfully for some years but now is in need of some repairs (brakes). Mostly I have been able to service this tractor without needing new parts, but now that I do I find it is a tough tractor to find parts for. I live in NW Ontario, Canada, and from what I understand these tractors are a German import.
All the IH parts catalogues I've come across locally and on the web don't list parts for this model tractor. Any suggestions from other North American 624 owners on where I might find a source (catalogues/websites/etc) for new parts? Hi there Red Power community, and thanks for adding me. Any suggestions from other North American 624 owners on where I might find a source (catalogues/websites/etc) for new parts The 624 used an early series D-206 engine which was also used in the U.S. Built (early model) TD-7 crawler The British built 584 utility tractor used the D-206 engine too. I believe the 584 was sold in Canada.
Engine parts should be available in North America. Binders Books, an IH tractor manual specialist, sell a Chassis Service Manual for the 624 - Their Ref # 3000929 Regards from Michael H. Thanks for all the replies - you're a helpful bunch here. And sorry for my slow replies - spring is a busy time. George 2, there are dealers in Manitoba and Minnesota but I always seem to run into the same problems finding new parts for the 624.
I went through all this five years ago when I had to replace the hydraulic pump and had to order one from the UK. There used to be a dealer nearby in Thunder Bay (now a Home Hardware/Cub Cadet dealer). I used to bug the lady at the parts desk for help because they used to deal in 624s and kept some old stuff around, but it was her dad who was the only one who really remembered anything from the 'old days' and he's since passed away. When they became a Home Hardware, they got rid of all the old goodies that were cluttering up their closets.
Klein, thank you. That may be exactly what I need! Rusty Ron: Where is your closest dealer up there? Is it a Manitoba dealer? As far as I know the most northern Ontario dealer is up in the New Liskeard area.
Or is there another one farther west? I did a Google search for 'International 624 tractor parts' I found two places in Canada that appear to be stripping them.
Chown Tractor Parts of 'NB' Canada - 1 unit. Teeswater Agro Parts of Teeswater, Ontario - 2 units The 624 was also sold here in Australia.
I helped a man locate some rear hitch parts for one here. The 'McCormick International' name on the tractor causes confusion, some people think it was a product of the (new) McCormick International (Landini) company. It was built by International Harvester in Germany. Regards from Michael H.
Thanks, Michael. Teeswater Agro Parts is almost in my back yard. (17 miles away). I was just all through his yard last week searching for a 820 header my neighbor was interested in. Anyway, I came across the remains of a 624 carcass, so I know he has at least one. Several 706 carcasses also. He has a decent 1066 ready to be parted out also.
Rusty Ron, the number to call is 519-392-6111. Ask for Brian Ireland.
He and his son are the owners. It is a medium sized salvage yard with tractors, combines, plows, forage harvesters, etc.
He also retails the better quality machinery as whole goods rather than parting it out. If Chrisser from West Virginia reads this he also has several loaders that will fit his B414. Good point George 2. I think I'll wait first though and see if something comes up a little closer to home. Been thinking lately could start my own forum for 624 owners and call it something like 'IH624 support group'. I have located, in Australia, a place that does reprints of old machinery manuals amongst other things. Plough Book Sales - E-mail They have a parts book for the International 624-724 Tractor & Front Loader - 230 pages - order code - 009580 $75.00 Au - They do Overseas Orders, so you would need to email Stephen to get a quote on postage and a currency conversion ($AU - $CAN) It is reprint so they can make multiple copies for other people, Regards from Michael H.

Should be (my typing is horrible). Michael, thanks again. Actually, a reproduction parts manual just showed up at my door (ebay order). I haven't got any reason to think it's incomplete (no missing pages) but for some reason it doesn't seem to list some of the hitch parts.
For example, I need a proper bell crank pin and new lower link eyes but no references which seems odd since the chassis service manual includes descriptions for these parts. The lower link eyes have me scratching my head too. They're too big for the cat 2 pins on my snow blower so I assumed they were cat 3 (though I have no idea why cat 3 eyes would be on there since it is a cat 2 hitch) and ordered some bushings. I tried the bushings yesterday, but the o.d.
(1-7/16') is too small as well. Measuring the i.d. Of the eyes with a tape, looks like they're actually 1-9/16' or maybe 1-5/8'. Anyone know what's up with the odd size of these eyes?
The 624 was sold all over the world and as such several versions exist. Definitely there is a European version and a Canadian version.
I also suspect some unique parts on the Australian version just like on the Canadian version. What I suspect is you have the European listing because they had hydraulic trailer hitches for example and also claw type lower three point arms. The best way to know for sure is find an old Canadian Case IH dealer who still has the old microfiche reader and cards. On that look up the 624 and I am sure the proper parts can be found.
You may have to contact either a Manitoba or else a southern Ontario dealer for this service. Like I said earlier there are several long time CIH dealers here in southwestern Ontario who still have the old microfiche system around. You're right, the 624 sold in Australia appears to be an 'export edition' and is different to the ones I've seen in photos of in Germany and France. The man here in Australia with the 624 needed hitch parts too and ended up getting generic parts from Bareco, a local tractor spare parts specialists.
He simply took the damaged parts into Bareco and they matched them with generic parts. I heard the 624 had a reputation for breaking hitch parts, perhaps Australian farmers used heavier implements than European farmers.
I believe the 624,here in Australia, was fitted with a heavy duty air-cleaner, a locally supplied muffler and possibly heavier rear wheels. Regards from Michael H.
